Who are We

The West Bengal Information Commission, has been constituted under Sub-Section (1) of Section 15 of the RTI Act, 2005 vide Gazette Notification No.747-PAR(AR) dated 12.12.2005 and published in the Gazette on 03.01.2006. The Commission’s mandate is to exercise the powers conferred on, and to perform the functions assigned to it under the Act.

The budget for the Commission is published in the budget book pertaining to Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department of the Govt. of West Bengal. (Demand No. – 42).

The Commission has jurisdiction over all public authorities established or constituted by any law made by State Legislature, by any notification issued or order made by the State Government and includes any body owned, controlled or substantially financed including NGOs substantially financed directly or indirectly by the funds provided by the State Government.
